Northwoods Stewardship Center Junior Counselor Overnight Training Session

Date: Wednesday, June 20, 2018 - Friday, June 22, 2018
Time: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Ages 13-16.  This training session is geared toward preparing young adults to hone and share their skills on a bicycle and as a group leader. Training will include skills progression on cross-country and downhill terrain, first aid training, leadership development, environmental stewardship, as well as building the tool bag of tricks, games, and gear of the competent Counselor.



After completing the Training Session, campers are eligible to work as a Junior Counselor at a Mountain Bike Adventure Camp. This training session is also a challenging, fun and valuable experience for young adults who do not plan to work as a Junior Counselor, but want to develop skills with their peers. We will use the NorthWoods bunkhouse as home base, and will be both at the NorthWoods campus and Burke Mountain Bike Park and Kingdom Trails for activities. Fee: $300 for the 2 day training.

KCP Presents Rhiannon Giddens

Rhiannon Giddens is a 2017 MacArthur “genius” award and the co-founder of the GRAMMY award-winning string band Carolina Chocolate Drops, in which she also plays banjo and fiddle. She began gaining recognition as a solo artist when she stole the show at the T Bone Burnett– produced Another Day, Another Time concert at New York City’s Town Hall in 2013. Relay For Life is a grass roots, community-based team event.  We kick off this event by honoring everyone who's been affected by cancer and everyone who has contributed to the success of this year's Relay season.

 

                  



There will be an Opening Ceremony, a Survivor/Caregiver Walk, a Luminaria Ceremony, and a Closing Cememony.

Dog Mountain Founders Celebration 2018

Jerry & Ed: A Two-Man Show

Starring actor and playwright Steve Henderson as Jerry Atric, and Frank Aronson as J.T. Waite in a two-man show that celebrates friendships that stand the tests of time.

Northwoods Stewardship Center Intro to Mountain Bike Adventure Camp

Ages 6-12. This camp is geared for those who are new to the wild and wonderful world of adventure by mountain bike. The camp day and week is a bit shorter, and instructors will focus on introducing essential bike skills in a low pressure environment.



Like our more advanced camps, we’ll practice these skills at Burke Mountain Bike Park and on Kingdom Trails, and we’ll make sure there is time for outdoor games, team-building challenges, and swimming. Fee: $450.

Reeve Lindbergh Book Launch

"Fungal Consciousness"

Back at The Clubhouse, pot luck BBQ and steamed corn. Just a great way to kick off the summer of open water swimming in the Kingdom.

2nd Annual Ryegate Summer Festival

This Star-Spangled event will include a flagpole dedication, kids' games and story-telling, petting zoo, rubber ducky race, Ice cream demos and food vendors, pie-tasting, Power Walk race for all ages, and local musicians/ young and old, including John Gordon's Calliope, as well as hay rides throughout the day.



Luncheon of barbequed beef, chicken, or pork sandwiches and cupcakes. Great way to kick off the summer. Pretty much everything free except for luncheon, pie tasting & vendor, flea mkt & yardsale items.
