Meditation Seminar to Reduce Stress
The Northeast Kingdom Chamber will present an introductory meditation workshop entitled "Better Business with Mindfulness." The workshop is scheduled for Thursday, March 25, at the St. Johnsbury Welcome Center, Depot Square, St. Johnsbury.
The event will begin at 4 p.m. and end at 5:30. Admission is free. The workshop is co-sponsored by Tail of the Tiger and Karmê Chöling. The workshop will be led by Patton Hyman, development director of Tail of the Tiger and an authorized meditation instructor for more than 25 years.
“We think it’s important for people to realize that mindfulness meditation is not some vague, otherworldly activity,” Hyman said. “I’ve worked with business people for about 40 years in Atlanta and locally, and whether you’re negotiating, planning, dealing with customers or managing employees, the perspective provided by mindfulness can be tremendously helpful. We’re delighted that the NEK Chamber is co-sponsoring this event so members and their employees, colleagues, and family members can get a taste of what it’s about.”
Participants in this workshop will learn the practice of mindfulness meditation, a simple technique for working with distractedness, information overload, and stressful situations, and will have an opportunity to discuss the role of work in cultivating a mindful relationship to life activities.
Participants do not need to be chamber members to attend. Tail of the Tiger is an educational, non-profit organization offering innovative programs for enhancing professional performance and satisfaction, housed at Karmê Chöling Shambhala Meditation Center, a Barnet institution for almost four decades.
