Pete & Oliver of Pete's Posse
Date: Saturday, September 18, 2021
Time: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Local folk hero, Pete Sutherland, and his protege, Oliver Scanlon, met up when Oliver was a shy 4th grader, where the two wordlessly bonded over fiddle music. Several years later they began to play out, later joining forces with guitarist, Tristan Henderson, to form Pete's Posse, a hard-driving trio that spent half a dozen years touring nationally and internationally with its innovative blend of rocking contradance music, thoughtful and hilarious original songs, and soulful three-part acapella. The Posse spent the first 8 months of the largely gig-free pandemic recording a double album of new music before Tristan left to be with his family in Quebec. With the trio in hibernation, Pete and Oliver have revived their duo act, featuring a wide variety of instrumental combinations, informed by all the musical styles and sounds the trio is known for, and continuing to keep the Posse flame burning while adding new repertoire to the mix.
Enjoy a delicious picnic dinner during the show! Order in advance when you purchase your tickets online at highlandartsvt.org, and dinner will be waiting for you when you arrive. Picnics are available for pickup starting at 4:30 PM. A limited number of meals will be available for on-site purchase.

Catamount Arts Presents: The Last King with Crypitus at the ArtPort
Date: Saturday, September 18, 2021
Time: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
The Last King is not your average metal band, with powerful lyrics and technical instrumentation comes one of New England's most unique local acts. With a mission statement of keeping the underground community alive and bringing metalheads together, it's quite clear that TLK embraces its influence from many different genres including all styles of heavy music. Formed in the winter of 2014, TLK have been performing around the Northeast for over 6 years, have released several albums, and continue to push the boundaries of heavy music with each release. The band just dropped their highly anticipated third album entitled, "The New Age." The album dives deep into many concepts found in the present day world including corruption, greed, decision-making and survival, while incorporating a storyline about characters witnessing in its entirety on 9/18 for a special album release livestream/extended performance for fellow concertgoers! The band was supposed to embark on a Northeast-Midwest tour followed by a second leg East-coast run last year, however those plans were cancelled due to Covid. As soon as dates are eligible for rescheduling, those shows will hopefully be honored at a later date. Until then, TLK will be honored to give fans the opportunity to hear their entire new album in full on 9/18 with livestream capabilities to connect with even more fans across the nation!
Event is General Admission at $15; NVU Students at$10. Ticket prices do not include any applicable fees or sales taxes. Tickets @ https://www.catamountarts.org/show/details/the-last-king-with-crypitus/

Northern Harmony Singers Concert
Date: Saturday, September 18, 2021
Time: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Northern Harmony, a collaboration of 10 brilliant singers presenting harmony from across the world, will appear on Saturday, Sept. 18, at 7:00 p.m., at the York Street Meeting House, 153 York St., Lyndon, sponsored by the Upright Steeple Society. Led by Larry Gordon, Northern Harmony is the highest-level performing group under the umbrella of the world music organization Village Harmony, which sponsors singing camps and workshops in New England and many parts of the world. (see www.villageharmony.org) Touring Europe regularly since 1995, the group has won wide acclaim for their unique repertoire and sure command of widely diverse traditional singing styles. The singers, all vaccinated, have been in residence for a week in Marshfield preparing this concert program. The program presents a thrilling mix of world harmony traditions, including South African songs and dances, traditional polyphony from Georgia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, and Corsica, contemporary American shape-note songs, including new songs by members of the group, and renaissance Italian devotional songs. The singing is always accompanied by dancing, with the rhythm of the dance movements often in counterpoint to the song. The band will also play a medley of traditional dance tunes. The shape-note songs include two new works by Ethan Sudan, a member of the group, as well as two other contemporary numbers by Toby Tenenbaum and Megan Henderson. Vaccinated only; everyone requested to wear masks.
