The Northeast Kingdom

At A Glance

The Northeast Kingdom of Vermont comprises the counties of Caledonia, Essex and Orleans and is located, as the name implies, in the northeastern area of the state. The tri-county region, at 2,054 square miles, accounts for just over 21 percent of the entire state. The Kingdom includes 71,315 acres of public state forest land and parks, 1,632 acres of public federal forest lands and parks, 37,575 acres of some of the most beautiful public lakes and ponds in the nation and 3,840 miles of public rivers and streams. The Kingdom also features 50 public boat launches on lakes throughout the region.

The Northeast Kingdom is the home of Jay Peak Resort, Burke Mountain ResortKingdom Trails, the Lamoille Valley Rail TrailCatamount Arts, St. Johnsbury Athenaeum & Art Gallery, the Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium, the Old Stone House Museum, Maple Grove Farms of Vermont, the Dog Mountain - Home of Stephen Huneck Gallery, the Great Vermont Corn Maze and so much more. The region is also home to Vermont State University-Lyndon, the Community College of Vermont and many other stellar educational institutions.

 The Northeast Kingdom also includes 55 towns and gores, with a combined regional population of 64,043. We have included community profiles here to give you a sense of the towns and gores within the Kingdom. Whenever possible, we have linked the profile to the specific town web site. When that is not possible, we have linked these communities to a wonderful regional resource, the Kingdom Guide.

Spring Dance Recital & NHSDA Induction Ceremony
Date: Tuesday, May 7, 2024
Time: 7:00 pm

This spring’s performance will feature students in the Jazz Dance class, Modern Dance class, Improvisation/Compositions class, Dance History class, Dance Techniques & Elements class, and the audition based LI Dance Company as well as the contemporary dance club, pointe club, hip hop club, and tap club. Choreographies will not just showcase learning in the foundational studies of dance technique and artistry (specifically the art of and various styles/forms of modern and jazz dance studies) but this spring recital will demonstrate students skills and knowledge utilizing the use of the elements of dance (time, space and energy) to highlight understanding and communication of the evolution of dance, cultural inspirations in American dance, and personal relations of identity through the expression of movement.
