The Northeast Kingdom Is a Great Place to Live and Work

If you are considering a move to Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, you are not alone. In the past 50 years, the region has become a favorite spot for people looking for a great place to live and work, due to its friendly residents and one of the world’s most spectacular landscapes.

A BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO LIVE

It really is gorgeous in the Northeast Kingdom.  Our fall colors are heralded throughout the world, but the summer is just as pretty, with flowers and trees blooming on every hillside. Our lakes and streams are crystal clear, our mountain bike trails are inviting and our skiing is considered among the best in the Northeast, with future Olympians training on our mountains.

Since the book “1,000 Places to See Before You Die” was first printed, the Northeast Kingdom has been featured in every edition of the North American and international editions of the bestseller. The book states, “When fall’s riotous palette of red, orange, yellow and gold cloaks these hills, it could very well be the most beautiful place in America. Here, thickly forested hills of sugar maple, beech and ash give way to sleepy hamlets, one-church villages and gorgeous lakes – particularly the fjordlike Lake Willoughby, often compared to Switzerland’s Lake Lucerne.”

Wherever you venture in the Northeast Kingdom, there are mountains to hike, lakes to fish, rinks to skate on and plenty of bike, cross country and snowmobiling trails to traverse. We also have tremendous attractions and cultural opportunities as well in the region, with a plethora of spectacular museums, galleries, historic attractions and libraries.

A WONDERFUL PLACE TO WORK

But we are far more than just a beautiful place to visit. Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom has traditionally been the state’s most affordable place to start a business, not to mention that it offers a skilled, productive and eager work force. The region offers an enviable quality of life that is easily accessible to major market centers, interstates and state highways. The area, in fact, has been singled out in a number of publications for its quality of life, welcoming business climate, safety, cultural organizations and educational institutions.

Situated at the transportation hub of interstates I-91 and I-93 and U.S. Routes 2 and 5, the Northeast Kingdom features vibrant downtowns, prime industrial sites with development potential and strong local schools, college and tech centers. The region also is conveniently located to major markets in the U.S. and Canada.

Whether you are considering a long-awaited move to the Northeast Kingdom or would like to find the perfect place to start up that desired business, we will do whatever we can to make your move to the region one of the best decisions you will ever make.

Please check out our Business Resource Guide, “Why the Northeast Kingdom”  for more reasons why you should consider the region as a place to live and work.
